Herbs

Arrowroot

A starch used first by the Arawak Indians to pack on wounds from poisoned arrows to draw out the toxins.

Basil

Excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin K, minerals, potassium, iron, manganese, copper, and potassium. It is a good antioxidant.  Very beneficial for the skin.

Black Walnut Hulls

Has Tannins in it that has an astringent quality that has been thought to shrink sweat glands and reduce excessive sweating.  Also contain juglone, a natural chemical that is antibacterial, antiviral and a fungicide.  It’s also good for yeast infections.

Burdock Root

Contains properties that seem to have activity against bacteria, inflammation, acne, psoriasis and eczema.

Calendula

Known to help with eczema, psoriasis, yeast infections, herbs, ringworm, athlete’s foot, varicose veins, and other minor injuries and skin problems.

Cinnamon

Is known for fighting yeast.  It is also has antibacterial properties, and helps with itchy skin.

Chamomile

Commonly used for hay fever, inflammation, muscle spasms, ulcers and hemorrhoids. Common skin uses are to reduce swelling, fight bacteria, fight eczema, psoriasis, chicken pox and diaper rash.

CLARY SAGE

Known to contain an ester present called linalyl acetate that is known to help with skin inflammation and heal rashes.  It has also been known to balance skin oils for both oily and dry skin.  It’s been known as an astringent and to strengthen and tone skin.

Coffee

When used in skin cleansers and scrubs, coffee is believed to reduce cellulite and redness as well as dark skin patches and skin discoloration.

COMFREY

Know as a knitting herb.  It is believed to help wounds and bones to heal twice as fast when applied several times a day.  It is high in calcium and Vitamin C.

DANDELION

Commonly known for its ability to cleanse you blood stream, help prevent various forms of cancer and to help fight acne.

EUCALYPTUS

Often used as an analgesic, antibacterial, anti infectious, anti-inflammatory, for eczema, as an insect repellent, and as a skin infection fighter.

GINGER

Often used as an antiseptic, prevents contagious diseases, reduces inflammation and for rheumatism.

GREEN TEA

Topically, common uses are help with rosacea and inflammation.  There have been reports that green tea, when used topically can slow the effects of sun damage by quenching the free radicals and reducing inflammation rather than blocking UV rays.  It is also known to improve elastic tissue.

HEARTSEASE

Often used for cradle cap, rashes, imperigo, nerve inflammation, gout, joint inflammation and psoriasis.

HORSETAIL

Often used to strengthen the body’s immune system.  Also used as an antibacterial and antimicrobial. It has been used to treat conditions such as brittle teeth, nails and carbuncles, itchiness and dried cracked skin.

HYSSOP

Commonly used for colds, flus and cleansing purposes. In the bible, Moses used it for spiritual and physical cleansing.

LAVENDER PETAL

May help with cell renewal, dandruff, hair loss, reduce scarring, boils, bruises, carbuncles, cold sores, headaches, hives, eczema, psoriasis, bee stings, insect bites and more.

PEPPERMINT LEAF

Commonly used as an analgesic, anti carcinogenic, anti inflammatory, antiseptic and antispasmodic.  It’s also known to be invigorating and cool the skin.  It may help with candida, varicose veins and hives.

NETTLE

Commonly used to help arthritis, hives and Alzheimer’s disease.  It has also been used to improve the appearance of hair, and as a remedy against oily hair and dandruff.

ROSE

Often used as an aphrodisiac.  Also used for cuts and wounds.  Known to have anti cancer, antidepressant, astringent and sedative properties.

ST. JOHN WART

Used for centuries mainly on cuts and open wounds, sprains, bed sores, burns, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and stress.

SLIPPERY ELM

Often used for psoriasis, boils, burns, ulcers, cold sores, abrasions and other skin issues.

YARROW

This was first used by ancient Greeks over 3000 years ago for treating external skin wounds, such as cuts and bleeding.  It was also used as a tea for treating gastrointestinal issues, lessen menstrual bleeding, fevers and to improve circulation.

Base Oils

Almond Oil

Apricot Oil

Very moisturizing for hair and skin.  It’s also commonly used with essential oils as a scalp massage.

Castor Oil

Commonly used to treat several skin ailments such as boils, warts, athlete’s foot, acne and chronic itching.  It’s also commonly used to soften and hydrate skin making it ideal for wrinkles and fine lines. It’s known as a strong moisturizer. The omega -3 fatty acids help to reduce pigmentation.  It’s also been known to promote hair growth, thicken eyebrows and treat scalp infections.

COCONUT OIL

This is often used to treat dry skin, reduce frizz in hair and to smooth skin.  It’s known to contain anti-inflammatory properties to help with arthritis.

GRAPESEED OIL

Good source of fatty acids and Vitamin E. It also has strong antioxidant properties.  Contains Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9.  It helps to tighten and tone skin.  It also contains great moisturizing properties.

HAZELNUT OIL

This oil has been called the “pore-reducing” oil and “acne-fighting” oil.  It is often used as an astringent that smooths and tones skin. It is hydrating without feeling greasy.  It has been said to be rejuvenating to the skin, making skin appear more youthful and vibrant over time.

JOJOBA OIL

Commonly used as a skin moisturizer, for controlling acne, and for dry and cracked hands and feet.  Many people use it for Eczema, psoriasis, and other dry skin conditions.  It’s also been used to control hair loss, dandruff, and scalp psoriasis.

OLIVE OIL

Commonly used to treat acne, as a hair moisturizer, and as a natural skin remedy.

Palm Oil

Contains toctrienols which are a member of the Vitamin E family and penetrate deep into the skins layers to enable healing and protections from the bottom layers up.
